The Ombudsman welcomes the Kosovo Council for the Rights of the Child

A delegation from Kosovo, composed of members of the Council for the Rights of the Child – an inter-ministerial mechanism provided for by the Law on the Protection of Children – with representatives of line ministries and the Office of Good Governance of the Government of Kosovo, was received today in a meeting at the Ombudsman institution by the Secretary General, Mr. Fatbardh Zenelaj, together with representatives of the Section for the Protection and Promotion of Children’s Rights.

The meeting focused on the exchange of inter-institutional experiences and practices, with the aim of the Council exercising its coordinating, monitoring and advisory mandate in the field of children’s rights as effectively as possible.

The delegation was closely acquainted with the role and mandate of the Ombudsman as the highest national institution for the promotion, prevention of violations and protection of human rights, with a special focus on children’s rights. During the discussions, challenges, good practices and experiences in monitoring, protection and awareness-raising were shared.

The Ombudsman also shared his experience as a member of the National Council for the Rights and Protection of the Child, where the institution has played an active role in drafting the Plan of Measures for the implementation of the Recommendations of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).

This meeting contributes to strengthening cooperation between institutions, with a focus on the protection and well-being of children.
