The Ombudsman Congratulates The New Academic Year And Brings An Example Of Institutional Influence In Education

The Ombudsman congratulates the new academic year and brings an example of institutional influence in education

At the start of this new academic year, the Ombudsman wishes every student and lecturer success, a spirit of research and dedication.

Let this year be an encouragement for all young people not to stop at just diplomas, but to do their utmost to turn their knowledge, energy and passion into contributions for the country.

On this important day for students, lecturers and the entire academic community, the Ombudsman institution brings to attention one of the cases that proves the power of dialogue and institutional intervention in protecting the right to education.

A case handled by the Ombudsman, which was related to the non-recognition of a diploma obtained in online format at a foreign university, paved the way for a solution with general impact.

Following our recommendation, the Ministry of Education and the Center for Educational Services have reflected by making the relevant changes to Instruction no. 21, dated 15.10.2021. With these changes, the recognition of diplomas obtained in online study programs is now allowed, in accordance with official documentation and international standards.

This is a clear example of how an individual case can turn into a systemic solution, guaranteeing equal rights for all citizens.
