The
Ombudsman of Albania has received a letter lately by a group of
imprisoned Albanians suffering their sentences in Patra prison.
In this letter, they are trying to draw the attention of
the President of Albania, and that of the Albanian Government as
well, for they have been suffering a constant violation of their
human rights, since the moment caught by the Greek police and
till the unfair processes of the judiciary system in the
Hellenic territory.
What
is more, they complain about different tortures they are obliged
to endure inside the police rooms since the beginning of the
investigation, and also about the unfair court decisions taken
against them which figure to be the maximum years of penalty for
the last ones. In this context, they claim that towards the
Albanian detainees are imposed racial measures in comparison to
the Greek citizens that commit the same delinquency.
The
Albanian detainees are calling for help to all high authorities
of the Republic of Albania, including People’s Advocate, to
intervene to the Hellenic Government to seek respect for their
human rights and to give a stop to the continuous violation
committed on them.
The
Albanian Ombudsman, has also referred this letter to the Greek
Embassy in Tirana, and shall be looking forward to have Your
