The Ambassador has asked me to thank you for your letter dated April 16, 2003, regarding the State Department 2002 Human Rights Report. The promotion of human rights, as the basis for building a stronger, more prosperous, and ultimately freer world, has been a central goal of US foreign policy.

As the Ambassador has stated in the past Albania has made significant progress in its respect for human rights. However, as the Report also states, much remains to be done. You and your Institution are playing a vital role in promoting human rights and strengthening the rule of law. We will continue to follow your progress, and we look forward to being of any assistance in your future work.
