Doc.No.200500001/2
Subject:
On the Albanian citizens held in Jezhevo Refugee Center
To:
The Ombudsman of the Republic of Croatia
Mr. Jurica MALCIC
Zagreb- Croatia
Dear
Colleague,
Wishing
you again success in accomplishing your very important task as
the Ombudsman of the Republic of Croatia, allow me please to
present you my concern as follows:
The
Albanian media informed on 04.01.2005, that about 50 Albanian
citizens have been held by the Croatian police, in Croatia,
under because they
have clandestinely passed
the Croatian border. We asked for information in the Albanian
Embassy in Zagreb and the Albanian Ambassador Mr. Arben Cici
told us that in the
Refugee Center of Jezhevo, Zagreb, there are 28 Albanian
citizens who have illegally
got to Croatia. According to the Head of this Center, Mr. Josip
Biljan, this relatively big number of Albanians are held in the
Center due to the inability of this center to send them
altogether back to Albania by plane. He has promised that within
the coming week, all the Albanians will be deported
to Albania by bus, through Montenegro. Meanwhile, one of
the Albanian citizens held in the center,
who has communicated with the Albanian Embassy in Zagreb,
complained about
the center hygienic conditions and has asked to be sent back to
Albania as soon as possible.
Under
such a situation, I would kindly ask you to possibly conduct an
inspection in this Refugee Center in Jezhevo and
see whether the human rights of the Albanian citizens
have been regarded.
Please,
let me know about this situation after your verifications.
Thanking
you for the
cooperation,
Yours sincerely,
Ermir DOBJANI
